La Coruna

Monday 6th Jan 2014. Did you hear the one about the cruise ship that set off for the Azores and ended up in Spain?
After much light-hearted ribbing during our last week at home about Italian Ship captains, guess what? We got on board and were told we had an Italian Captain.!!  Then the first announcement he makes is that we have lost the Azores and are instead are going to Spain (which is much easier to hit). How does one loose the Azores?

Anyway, joking aside, we arrived today at La Coruna and guess what..it’s the Feast of the Three Kings and everything is closed for the day….again!  So we have now been here twice and both times its been closed….will we ever see it open for business?

The main square in La Coruna has a large Statue celebrating the local heroine Maria Pita who became the local celebrity in 1589 when she helped stop the English invading…..do you see a pattern here?

Today is actually quite Sunny after the force 11 gale we came through last night.  Unfortunately I slept through it and have quite enjoyed the rough seas. One of our party, I would not say who, wrote in her diary “Feel terrible, why did we come on this holiday, I want to go home!”

Next stop is Antigua, in the Caribbean in seven days so I suppose Angelo tonight will just head west and left hand down a bit. I mean we can’t lose the Americas, can we?
