Sydney-Sun

Sunday 16th February 2014. Sunday dawned even duller and wetter than Saturday and today we took the ferry over to Manly on the other side of the bay to visit a friend and her two children who were apparently at “nippers on curl curl beach” on Sunday mornings. It’s something to do with being a lifeguard I think. They start them young here.

The ferries here in Sydney are so punctual that you could set your watch by them and the one to Manly (above) which if you look closely at is a sort of push-me pull-you type with a bow at both ends. On board you also get a free hot spot so you can also send those important emails from the middle of the harbour.

After a very pleasant but wet day in Manly we caught the Ferry back to the ship where a new intake of Aussies had come on board to try out this cruising lark and were now wandering around the ship like lost sheep. We were like that seven weeks ago?

After a final burst of shopping during which we still bought nothing, so don’t expect any Australian souvenirs anyone, we slowly backed out did a hard turn port or was it starboard? (left-hand down going backwards) narrowly missing the bridge, or so it seemed, and headed out into the choppy Tasman Sea, then turning left up the coast towards Brisbane
