Brisbane
18th February 2014. What can I say about Brisbane? Well it’s up the coast from Sydney and on the banks of the Brisbane River. It’s the capital of Queensland and within 10 years is set to be second largest city in Australia.
To get here we had to negotiate up the river until our Captain could go further without a pole! Even then we had to reverse downstream to turn on the way out. However someone had luckily built a Cruise Terminal just where we parked so a new load of passengers could get on and the ones who came up from Sydney on a joy ride could get off.
While this was going on we explored Brisbane. The city is serviced by a fast ferry service called CityCat and the downtown area is very compact and choc full of shops. The Queen Street Mall alone boast 650. This was another place where just the few hours we had in town did not do it justice and an overnight stop would have been better. In fact we have found this a lot, that overnight stops would be much better in many ports so more exploring could be done without an eye on the time all the while.
You just wont want to come back! Happy travels, by the way have you had any rough seas?
See you soon !!!!!!!! Pat
We were told the sea between NZ and OS can be very rough but for us it was flat as a pancake. Other than the start it has been all plain sailing!! So not missing you all. Richard
