1st April
1st April 2014. As we are at sea today I thought that I would give you some of the more interesting facts and figures about the ship.
We get a lot of dishes at mealtimes with Mushrooms and Rhubarb. Apparently P&O have found that they can grow both of these down in the bowels of the boat in the dark and with the heat of the engines.
Most people have heard that ships like the Aurora uses stabilizers in rough weather. What people don’t know is that in calm weather, that can be also used as hydrofoils to increase the ships speed by 10 to 15%
During the world cruise, if someone registers as a single at the first “singles” meeting then meets up with a partner and is married by the Captain by the end of the voyage, the new couple get 20% off their next world cruise.
The World Cruises always go clockwise around the world because due to the rotation of the earth and the fact we lose a day the ship uses about 1% less fuel.
All day’s “lost at sea” have to be reported to HMRC on Form E32 for tax purposes as they can affect your pension rights if not declared.
1st April right…
White rabbits to you too….
